A Little Honesty...

It all began with new lighting equipment. I have had my eye on it for a while and just knew it would be perfect for boudoir sessions. So it arrived and I had the brilliant idea that I would set it up in my room and do my own mini boudoir session with the help of my hubby behind the camera. How hard could it be? I mean, I know how to pose and he knows how to focus the camera. Ya, not so much!

First off, I felt like I had no idea what I was doing. I have been directing and positioning clients all year and now that its me I realize I can't see myself. And my husband, who was very willing and excited about this idea, is rapidly getting frustrated and we are both realizing this may not work. I am trying to direct him and pose myself and work with the new lighting and about 40 minutes in we call it good.

But it was not for nothing. I learned so much from those 40 minutes! I now know what it feels like to be in my clients shoes (or high heels), how much it helps to have reassurance, posing advice and constant positive feedback. I also realize, that even with coaching, not just anyone can pick up a camera and do this stuff. But most importantly, I realize how brave my clients are for allowing me to use their images in advertising, on face book and my website. So, thank you so much to all the amazing ladies I have had the pleasure to photograph this year! Your trust and faith in me has been overwhelming and you have all inspired me!
